What we do

Human Rights

SIPA believes that universality of human rights is fundamental principles guiding all humanitarian work. Thus, all SIPA program/projects are aligned with human rights. All SIPA projects of peace, rule of law, democracy, good governance, justice, and development opportunities fall under human rights.

Rights-Based Services: All SIPA’s service delivery is rights-based services, which citizens have rights to access; services are aligned with fundamental rights of citizens promised by the national Constitution of Somaliland (2001)

 

Policy & Good Governance:

SIPA is engaging to enhance public policy and good governance through practical research, assessment and survey and publishing findings to inform all stakeholders. Primary goal of public policy and good governance is to achieve sustainable peace, stability, and long lasting development in Somaliland.

Democracy: SIPA is engaging initiative on popularization of friendly democracy and transition of leadership by universal adults’ suffrage. During presidential elections held in Somaliland on 26th June 2010, Somaliland has already marked historical legacy in the history of democracy in Africa, which the ruling party UDUB won only margin of 80 votes against the opposition party of KULMIYE.  SIPA is engaging to maintain that record as lessons learning in the future political competition in Somaliland.

Development

SIPA is engaging development initiatives in Somaliland and supporting investment and reinstitution of capital startup of small and micro business in Somaliland. SIPA is working to provide technical expertise for the creation of public and private partnership (PPP) projects in Somaliland by introducing the framework and approach of PPP practices and performance. SIPA is engaging also implementation of development program/project in Somaliland in partnership with funding partners.
